What We Believe

Doctrine

We are a church that embraces tradition and historicity as reliable guides to guide the modern-day church. We believe in the creeds of the early church–the Apostles CreedNicene CreedAthanasian Creed — and subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith as accurately communicating and summarizing what we believe.

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has existed eternally in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

Salvation

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts..

The Bible

The Bible is God’s true word. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is the reliable revelation of God communicating to his people uniquely about the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Eternity

We were created to exist forever. We believe that forever is spent in one of two places: eternally separated from God because of sin or in union with God because of His forgiveness and salvation. When you die, you will either spend eternity in heaven or hell. Eternal separation from God happens in hell. Eternal union with God occurs in heaven.

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper is a sacrament instituted by Christ, given for the enduring remembrance of His sacrifice, the sealing of all benefits to believers, their spiritual nourishment and growth in him, their further engagement in and to all the duties which they owe to him, and to be a bond and pledge of their communion with him and each other.

The Resurrection

Jesus Christ will return to earth, visibly and bodily, at a time when He is not expected, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God, leaving behind none of His own.

Baptism

Baptism is a sign and seal of God’s covenant and is properly administered to children of believers in their infancy as well as to those who come as adults to trust in Christ.
